The rise of remote work has influenced the global workforce, yet identifying destinations that cater comprehensively to digital nomads can be challenging. ololoAkJol, a coworking and co-living destination with 22 hectares of land on Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul Lake, aims to serve as both a working space and resort for Kyrgyz citizens, global digital nomads, and their families. However, ololoAkJol lacked the infrastructure required to support year-round use and provide comfortable residential stays.
Central Asia Impact Fund (CAIF), an AV Ventures-managed $5 million impact investment vehicle, provided financing to ololoAkJol for its development. The investment capital was used to modernize the accommodations and expand facilities to enhance comfort and functionality in all seasons. This capital enabled ololoAkJol to increase room capacity, improve infrastructure durable enough to withstand the region’s varied cold temperatures, and develop facilities that support a year-round lifestyle for residents.

Gaining considerable recognition, ololoAkJol currently boasts a Google rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars. Reviewers frequently highlight the tranquil setting amid the pristine lakeside scenery, the creative atmosphere nurtured by thoughtfully designed co-working areas, and the welcoming spirit of the community. This underscores both the promise and the evolving nature of ololoAkJol as it strives to become home base for digital nomads seeking inspiration and connection in Central Asia.
