Why we invested
AV Ventures provided a revenue-based loan to WARC Ghana to support the expansion of its network of Service Delivery Units in Ghana’s Upper West Region. WARC operates at the intersection of regenerative agriculture and rural economic development, offering no-till farming services, technical training, and input financing to smallholder grain farmers. These farmers typically face low yields due to degraded soils and reliance on unsustainable agricultural practices.
By equipping farmers with climate-smart technologies and providing access to inputs on credit, WARC enables them to improve productivity while restoring soil health. The company also aggregates farmers to strengthen their bargaining power and secures guaranteed markets for their produce, thereby reducing market risk. This investment advances the AV Ventures Ghana Fund’s objective of promoting agribusiness models that regenerate natural resources, increase productivity, and expand market access. WARC’s regenerative model complements technology-driven solutions in the portfolio, such as those offered by Agro Innova, creating a synergistic approach to sustainable agricultural development in Ghana.
